          Within the hospitality industry there are several different sectors that fall under its umbrella; one of the more popular sections are weddings. Today, weddings are veering away from the more traditional church aspect. Now it’s all about the venues. Whether the venue is on the beach, at a barn, or in a grassy field it’s the nontraditional feel. One of the more popular trends is a themed venue.

          

         Based on an article in Bridal Guide magazine where the author, Kristen O'Gorman Klein, found the top five hottest wedding trends by looking at the Pinterest boards of women who entered to win a contest to have their dream wedding designed by David Tutera. The author saw a trend in the contestants Pinterest boards. The first trend was rustic themed weddings. Rustic themed weddings include barns as venues filled with branches, lanterns and nature inspired décor. The colors of this venue consist of natural browns, nature greens, and creams. This theme is becoming more and more popular and is similar to the vintage theme.

 

            The vintage theme is just how it sounds, old-fashioned. Within this theme couples include a lot of family heirlooms including the engagement ring, dresses, and even cars. This venue style is still nontraditional, but a hint of tradition in the sense of the hand-me-downs from generation to generation. Some couples think that the heirlooms or other antiques add to the romance of their big day. The vintage themed wedding is similar to the rustic based on the color scheme and décor items. The colors of a vintage wedding are also natural browns, nature greens, and with an addition of light pinks. Just as in rustic weddings vintage weddings use mason jars as décor to hold flowers/branches or tea lights. Since they have similar aspects people may also see a combination of the two called rustic-vintage weddings.

 

           Then there is the pure romance theme where a simple topic is taken to the extreme and very in depth perspective that captures the love between the couple. Within this theme, ceremonies had by candlelight or candle lit chandeliers at the reception, there’s a simple elegance to it that encompasses this theme. The venues and receptions were at gardens with gazebos covered in flowers or even lights. The flowers used in bouquets, centerpieces, or flooding the aisle are white and pink roses.

 

         Trends in the wedding industry are changing from generation to generation. As little girls, brides imagine what their big day will be like down to every last detail, but when they grow up it spirals several different ways. There are many outside sources that affect the way a bride wants her wedding. For example, the Internet is becoming a game changer for brides, as do television shows and movies. As generations from generations began to get married the idea and possibilities of weddings can change based on the many factors.

Guide to choosing your color combinations. 

After the ring is on your finger not the fun part begins, planning the wedding but where do you start? When trying to come up with a theme and color combination can be difficult because there are so many possibilities. It can seem overwhelming. Don’t worry, this is normal. In order to decide what colors would work best for your wedding try to think about these considerations.

When and where. The season that you are getting married in is a good place to start on your color combination combined with your destination. This is the backdrop to your wedding and you want to reflect the scene you are trying to create. For example if you are getting married in New England in the fall you want to take into consideration the background setting you will be in. So mixing browns reds and oranges together will help enhance the fall atmosphere. For spring weddings light flowery colors such as light greens and yellows will enhance the springtime ambiance and set the scene for your wedding.

                                       


Where will the colors be used? The colors you choose could be used for any part of the wedding such as bridal dresses, groomsmen accessories, the invitations, the cake, floral arrangements, the list goes on and on. So pick colors that you and your fiancé will feel comfortable with and that you both agree on. If he is not to enthusiastic about yellow and he loves navy blue those colors go great together and that way you both get something you want.

Not everything has to perfectly match. Now a day’s people use color themes in their wedding so every aspect is a little different. Or even a general color such as blue and they use all different shades throughout the entire wedding process. It mixes things up from traditional planning styles and makes it unique.

                   















Do these colors look good together? Today many wedding have color combinations that you would not ordinarily think would match but it work such as pink and green or Aqua and orange. These unusual combinations can sometime work so before you say no, try looking up some combination ideas and see if you can make it work.

Flowers and their Choosing!

Deciding what floral motif to incorporate into your wedding is not only exciting and fun but easy to do. First, you should become familiar with flowers by looking through bridal magazines or visiting florists. Then you must determine your budget. The cost of flowers can range from $2,000 to $6,000 depending of course on what your overall wedding expenditure is. To avoid disappointment, your best bet
is to have a figure in mind before choosing your flowers.

Once a budget is determined you can move on to the fun part – deciding on the types and colors of the flowers. The season plays an important role in choosing flowers, for instance, non-seasonal flowers can be flown in but that will significantly increase your cost. Flowers popular in springtime include the anemone, daffodil, orchid, ranunculus and sweet pea while winter favorites are the amellia, iris, pansy, poinsettia and tulip. There are also many flowers available year-round such as the calla lily, carnation, rose and tulip.

When it comes to choosing the colors of your flowers there are many combinations. By using complementary colors – colors that appear across from each other on the color wheel – you can produce vibrant, intense arrangements. This can be done with yellow and purple, blue and orange or even red and green.

If you are looking for a more subtle and harmonious effect you can combine analogous colors to produce a romantic feel. Analogous colors are families of colors that are next to each other on the color wheel, such as blue, blue-violet and blue-green. You can use any color that fits into the palette of your wedding.

A third color combination is “triadic”: a random and exciting blend of three equidistant colors. This adds an unusual and unique feel. Think yellow, red and blue. You can use virtually any combination of colors as long as they mix together nicely.

Once you've decided on the type and color of your flowers you can then determine the role they will play in your wedding. Depending on your budget and the type of wedding you're planning, your flowers can be simple or elaborate. The bridal bouquet and the bouquets for the wedding party members as well as boutonnieres for the groom and groomsmen should be your first priority. Then you will most likely want flowers to enhance your reception hall, such as centerpieces for the tables. You might also think about flowers for the wedding ceremony venue, such as bouquets at the end of pews, at the altar, on windowsills, etc. The possibilities are endless.






Wedding flowers are not only beautiful but they also help set the tone and mood on your special day. So be sure to set your budget and then take your time choosing just the right flowers!

Choosing Your Bridesmaids Dresses

One of the most crucial aspects of planning your wedding is deciding on how to dress your bridesmaids. Coordinating dresses for a diverse group of women can be a tricky task to handle. You're dealing with various body types, skin tones and personal tastes, and finding one dress to satisfy all these differences can be challenging. Fortunately, a recent trend of mismatched bridesmaid dresses has made this decision easier and more creative. This may sound scary to a bride who insists that everything at her wedding look uniform, but if done correctly it can be just the right twist. There are endless ways to mismatch dresses but here are some useful examples:

One choice is to have each girl wear a different dress using the same color. The dresses can vary in length, fabric, texture and/or patterns. They can be variations of one dress or different dresses altogether.

Although these dresses are daringly different from one another, the element of ruffles and color help pull them all together.

When using a combination of different colors and styles, be careful not to choose looks that clash. Try to find some element of consistency, like length or similar accessories.

Model and actress Molly Sims executed this trend beautifully.  The ladies are wearing elegant dresses that fall to the same length but have subtle differences in color and style. Notice how the print of one girl's dress is found in the strap of another; also, at least four of the dresses feature black stripes, two horizontal and two angled vertically, a great way to tie everything together.

If you're dead set on keeping each dress the same but still looking to add some flare, there are options for you too. You can keep the dress the same but play with colors or lengths:

This blend of beige, yellow and other ethereal colors adds uniqueness, but the consistent style of the dresses keep it cohesive.

You can also add a subtle (or bold) twist by playing with different accessories or shoes.

This bride kept all the dresses the same but added her personal touch by giving each bridesmaid a different color cardigan. Original yet simple.

Whether you dress your bridesmaids traditionally or decide to mix and match, the only thing that matters is whether you're thrilled with the end result. Remember, your bridesmaids are a reflection of you and should look both cohesive and beautiful. But not too beautiful – this is YOUR day after all.

Hello Press followers! I apologize for the slow season on the blog! But with wedding season ready to kick back into gear, I promise to keep your interests peaked! 

This evening, while perusing the various wedding inspiration blogs, I came across this amazing couple and their picture brilliant wedding style shoot! Green Wedding Shoes usually keeps my mind a-spinning with ideas and thoughts, but this took the gold! You can read more about the couple and their vendors here: Click Me!

The whole inspiration for this wedding was based of the brides unique dress! Watercolors really bring out the fun, ethereal side of a theme. According to GreenWeddingShoes, the whole shoot was designed with couples having a budget or a DIY wedding in mind.  The best DIY to achieve a similar look would be DIY dip-dye or watercolor art! Its as simple as grabbing a strip of paint and dye! 

I hope you enjoy this style shoot as much as I did! Who wouldn't want a sea of color for a garden or sea or both! Themed wedding!
