Modern Day Unforgettable Wedding Scenes

Modern Day Unforgettable Wedding Scenes

Many of us probably got our first look at weddings from Hollywood movies scenes. Watching our favorite, and most beautiful actors and actresses walk down the aisle has probably been the inspiration for more than a couple of us girls around the world to one day do the same thing with our Prince Charming. Hollywood romance comes in many different forms, with many different types of couples, and many different love stories. We can all relate to these films in one way or another and enjoy watching them to see our favorite actors. Some of these actors and actresses that we know and love on screen together go on to be actual couples as we have seen countless times.  So we have to wonder if that spark on camera in some cases is real and true. As movie watchers we know we all love it when our favorite couples on screen get together (Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams from the Notebook….who wasn’t obsessed with that couple?). Let`s take a look at some of my favorite proposal and wedding scenes from the past couple years. There are millions of classic, romantic movies that are much older than all these movies but if we went into them as well, the list would be never ending! If you have never seen these movies before beware of spoilers!

1) A Walk to Remember: Jamie is getting sicker and sicker from Cancer so Landon proposes to her to fulfill one of her life time dreams of getting married in the same church her parents got married in.

2) The Vow: Paige and Leo, a young, energetic, fun couple make their vows in a museum surrounded by their great friends before tragedy strikes them both and they truly have to live up to the vows they made one another.

3) Sweet Home Alabama: Melanie is having a tough time letting go of her first love. She is engaged to another man (Patrick Dempsey) and walking down the aisle when she realizes she gave her heart away a long time ago and she never got it back from him.

4) The Proposal:  This might just be one of the best, funniest proposals between two of the hottest stars in Hollywood.

5) Sex and The City: It took awhile (the entire movie and basically every season of Sex and The City) for Big to realize why Carrie needs a diamond ring from him but by the end of the movie he finally gets it.

6) He`s Just Not That Into You: After Neil fights and fights Beth on the idea of marriage he gives in and realizes the importance of marriage and her being in his life. Neil is played by Ben Affleck and Beth by Jennifer Aniston, two of my favorite actors.

7) Twilight Breaking Dawn: For those Twilight fans!!

8) My Best Friend`s Wedding: After almost successfully breaking up her best friend and his fiancé Jules gives up the battle for him and lets love win.

These are just a few of some of the recent Hollywood films that make us want to fall in love and have our fairy tale ending. There are millions more especially the older classics that are great romantic films that will have you thinking of love and happily ever afters! Next rainy day stay in and watch one of these great, romantic movies, you won`t regret it!

Personalizing Your Special Day

“Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something YOU”

Personalizing Your Special Day

With so many details going into the “Wedding Day” procedures and the public eye watching from all around, how can a modern bride tweak traditions and play with the necessary details in order to make her special day extraordinary and unique? No one wants to hear their guests chatting by the dessert table saying, “Oh, I’ve seen this display before” or “Well, Jamie had that cake at her wedding.” NO WAY! Each bride deserves to have her own personalized and unique details that give her wedding an extra sparkle and wow factor for everyone in attendance.

Here are some ideas for personalizing Your wedding…

The Bridal Party!

1. Personal Notes: An emerging trend on social media websites such as Pinterest and various bridal magazines is brides writing a personal and heartfelt note to her bridesmaids on the bottom of their shoes. This is a way for them to not only feel more included in the process, but to provide a unique touch straight from the bride… They will also have one more keepsake from the day!

2. Monogrammed Necklaces: Something brides struggle with is the jewelry or lack of jewelry that their bridal party will wear… so why not give them a monogrammed necklace as a bridal party gift AND a way to set them apart from other bridesmaids! (You could also get one for yourself with you new initials to wear at the reception.)

3. Bridesmaid Garters! Check out this fun and personalized idea for your bridal party- most brides wear the traditional garter, but what about the bride’s maids? But with a fun and unique twist added on, the bride can personalize this fun detail by giving each bridesmaid a mini bottle of her favorite alcohol (for when the day gets extra stressful).

Table Numbers
1. As the Years Go By… Make each table number a year and pair it with a picture of the bride and groom in that year! Or if you have a smaller wedding (less tables) you could stick with the 1, 2, 3- and have a picture of the bride and groom at that age. No worries that the mister and misses to be didn’t know each other at age 3: just resize the photographs on the computer and print them out together.

2. I remember when- Associate each table number with a memory about the bride and groom or some significant “number-related” fact about them. 5: A day in May that we met (as seen in the example to the right). 10: Day in September that Joey proposed to Samantha. 25: Number of months we dated. Make it fun, sweet, and cute so everyone will have a fun surprise and unique personal touch when arriving to their table!

3. Memoire Folders: One bride told Bridal Guide of how she chose to make each table number a folder and on each table there were paper and pens for the guests to write the bride and groom a note to open on their anniversary. The table numbers correspond to their 1st, 2nd, 3rd and so on anniversaries! So they will have “x” amount of folders to open depending on how many tables they have at their wedding- what a great idea! You could also have disposable cameras and develop each table’s photographs on that anniversary for a fun treat and memory of your special day.  (Idea from Bridalguide.com)

4. Street Signs: For a local wedding or a wedding in a big city, why not use street signs instead of table numbers? Each table is a well-known street and you could even give your guests a map to locate their table. For a bride and groom from the same hometown or well-seasoned travelers: what a special way to add a personal touch rather than sticking to the traditional number system!

Cake, Cake, Cake, Cake

Brides have found many ways to personalize their wedding through the centerpiece of the reception- the wedding cake! Putting your favorite poem or song lyric on the side of the cake is a unique way to put a personal touch on the reception or the “split personality” cake where the bride and groom’s personalities are represented by each side of the cake!

Another way to insert your personal touch is by an individual cake for the bride and the groom. Perhaps in addition to the main cake or instead! The bride’s cake can resemble her dress or represent one of her passions and the groom’s cake can resemble a tux or represent something that he loves to do! At my uncle and aunt’s wedding, my uncle actually had a cake modeled after a cigar box with luxury cigars in it as he is an avid cigar collector- it was so cute!

Speaking of cute, check out these PERSONALIZED cake toppers for the really outgoing bride and groom!! Available for purchase at Etsy:

When thinking about how to make your wedding, reception, and ceremony extra special- there are thousands of different outlets and small details that you can choose to personalize. From personalized napkins, to monogrammed glassware, and individual cakes- the options are limitless. The question is which ones you want to choose to personalize and specialize your wedding in order to set apart your day from everyone else’s. Be sure not to choose TOO many as to not overwhelm your guests, but they will be sure to appreciate these small and special details. So make sure to include Something YOU when planning your special day!

Winter Wedding Inspiration

Winter weddings are magical and that is Fact, not fiction!

People tend to think of winter weddings as cold and wet but the truth of the matter is that a winter wedding creates the perfect conditions to make your wedding day enchantingly special and one of a kind.

Since I believe in the fantastic feeling that is a winter wonderland wedding, I searched around and came to a fellow bloggers inspiration boards that will turn a non believer into a life long advocate for a inter wedding. So lets start this off with a flurry of glitter and snow!

There's nothing more romantic than candlelight and can you imagine how wonderful your wedding photos are going to look with a reception room adorned with little flickering flames. I am loving the arch of sparklers too!

Winter weddings should have succulents in the floral displays and bouquets. They look heavenly with the perfect shade of minty green and snow!!!

The ultimate accessory for the winter bride is a cozy wrap to keep the chill off her shoulders. Add a dash of elegance with a faux fur stole and muff.

When choosing your cake for a winter wedding you may wish to stick to traditional and to be honest, I would too.  There's something to be said for the effortless, chic, understated plain white iced cake; just decorate it with flowers matching your bouquet. I wouldn't go for anything brightly colored simply because it would clash with the winter wedding theme - if you are having a theme that is. I love all of these cakes for their simplicity.

How would you style a winter wedding?

Addressing Etiquette

Ever been curious how to address your envelopes for your big day? Ever know how to address a guest that is living with someone but unmarried? Did you even know there was a particular "etiquette" involved in the addressing? Well don't worry, I'm here to save any concerns you may have.
Follow these steps, and you'll be sure to not insult anyone and definitely impress!
(Feel free to use these for any other formal event you may have, too.)

Envelopes:
Inner Envelope: includes the title and last name of the specific people invited. This allows the host to be very clear about who is invited, and by omission, who is not invited. If both adults and children are invited, list the couple's name and below it, the name of the child (separate lines).

Outer Envelope:
Names: Addressed conventionally using titles, first and last names. Titles and suffixes can be abbreviated (i.e. Mr., Mrs., Ms., etc.)
Addresses: Words such as "Street" or "Boulevard" should be spelled out! State names may be written in full or use the two-letter postal code abbreviation.

RSVP Envelope:
Write out all words here, too. House numbers and zip codes should be written in numeral form except for "one," which is spelled out. The return address is typically printed on the outer envelope's back flap.

Guests:
Married couple: Invitations are allowed addressed to both members of a married couple, even though the bride may know only one or knows that only one will attend.
Informal: You can include the first names of both husband and wife after their titles. The inner envelope can address the couple by their first names.
Different last names: In all cases, the wife's name is traditionally written first. This does not change if they have different last names!

Un-married Couple: Connecting the couple's names by the word "and" implies marriage. For an un-married couple that lives together, names should be written on separate lines without the word "and." On the inner envelope, both are addressed by their titles and respective last names.

Family with children:
Formal: The outer envelope would be the same as a couple without children. The inner envelope can specify the children by name that are invited. Boys under age 13 are addressed as Master and girls under age 18 are addressed as Miss.
Informal: The outer envelope would have both parents names written. The inner envelope can state the parents' and children's first names without titles and using the word "and" is acceptable to link the children's names.

Single Guest: For a single woman, either "Ms." or "Miss" is appropriate. The guest's name is the only one that appears on the outer envelope. The inner envelope can include the guest's name followed by "and Guest." If you know who their guest would be, it's more personal to include that person's name on a separate line.

Our Newest Wedding: Alexis and Joe!

-->
Well, we've done it again ladies and gentlemen!
Saturday, June 9, 2012 marked the stunning wedding day of Alexis and Joe that Paisley Events were so fortunate to be a part of. The couple called Paisley with a last minute "day of" assistance, one of our most popular packages, and we could not be happier that we were there. Talk about a couple that fully encompasses love- that was Alexis and Joe! Both Alexis and Joe are music and theatrical guru’s so we knew that this wedding would not only be beautiful, but also fun!
The day began with Paisley Events members divided between the bride and groom's hotels in charge of waking up, providing coffee and breakfast, and making sure that everyone was on schedule. With everything running smoothly, we found a minor hiccup with the men- some buttons were MIA, including the groom's! The joy of having a wedding planner at your side! A Paisley member called the company, and buttons were sent over to the hotel just in time for the party to get into the limo.
Then came the ceremony at St. Peter's Church in Danbury, CT. The bride was beaming in her white, sweetheart neckline lace gown as she came down the aisle, escorted by her father, only to be greeted by her touched husband-to-be holding back the tears.
The color scheme of the bridal party was bridesmaids wore full-length light green dresses, and the younger girls wore a light purple. The men’s grey/tan suits, purple boutonnieres, and green bow ties and vests perfectly complimented the women’s colors. After the ceremony and some fun pictures (see collage below), the wedding made its way to the reception at the quaint Lounsbury House in Ridgefield, CT.
The couple added something out of the ordinary to their reception that I would love to share. As the bridal party was called, the youngest girls brought down an eloquently decorated broom while the singer of the band explained its tradition. “Jumping the broom” is an African tradition that the couple decided to incorporate into their wedding. As they were called down for the first time as husband and wife, they jumped over the broom, symbolically representing the couple sweeping away the old and welcoming the new. Adding special traditions like this to your wedding really add a great personal touch for everyone to enjoy :)
After the two’s touching first dance, the 112 guests met and sat in the beautifully decorated rooms of the house.  The delicious buffet arranged in the “dining room” really added to the homey feel that the reception house presented. With the sound of Joe’s friend’s band playing in the next room, guests were allowed to sit and enjoy each other’s presence or join on the dance floor. I can assure you that by the end, this lively wedding was all on the dance floor enjoying each other’s company.
This fun was only to be interrupted by a surprise from the bride to the groom. Curious what happened? With a short background, the bride explained her and Joe’s moment they once shared singing “1000 Years” by Christina Perri. Well, Alexis took the microphone and decided to sing the song to Joe, singing with absolute perfection (even with some tears in the end).
Can they be any cuter?!
The day ended as sweet as it began with a delicious and darling dessert table—complete with candy bar, cupcake tiers, and a quaint wedding cake. Take a look at the picture- and note the decorations around the table. Believe it or not, those were the bows tied onto the church pews during the ceremony- guests would never have noticed and it’s a GREAT money saver!
We are so happy that we were able to celebrate and help with the couple as they celebrated each other’s love.
Paisley Events wishes Alexis and Joe a lifetime of happiness!!
