Flop Or Fly?

Flop or Fly?

Edition 2

So to keep some room open for the tasty treats that are being featured in The Cupcake Countdown, we've decided to make "Flop or Fly" bi-weekly.  This is great for me since I get some time to test out the recipes that Katherine's throwing out there!  They are worth it!  So be sure to check it out!
So today we're going back to the backs to see what they will do for 2013.  For a long time now, to balance princess layers and full skirts, showing a little skin up top has been the way to go.  This trend, along with the illusion trend of this week are totally changing that!  According to Kate Berry at Martha Stewart Weddings, 70% of all wedding gowns sold are strapless.  While I don't believe this majority is going to change, I do think this trend is going to cut into that number!

For the new, year, my prediction is that back details and illusions will be back.  The illusion style beading  will create new silhouettes that will add sexiness, mystery and class to any style skirt.  Whether spaghetti strapped, cap sleeved, or haltered, statement backs are going to be the new statement necklace. Body veils and transition illusions will become a fad marking the times and not have the staying power of the wearable art created on the illusion overlays, backs, and necklines.

Sara and Matt
As for the decor, backdrops will be around for a while, especially for outdoor weddings.  Simple strung florals like Sara and Matt's are a beautiful way to go for outdoor weddings.  Streamers and ribbon also inject a lot of personality while keeping the budget small. Architectural elements like doors and windows create amazing photo ops for those with the time and resources.

Personalized Banner

As the photo booth trend continues to hold strong, they can add a personalized touch to everyone's fondest memories.  Frames and banners will be the cost effective route for creating your own personalized photo booth.

Tablescape
Draping

As for Grand and Glam, its not a trend, it's a staple in the wedding world.  Glamorous and weddings should be next to each other in the dictionary.  Draping is my favorite way to create an elegant backdrop and the lighting just enhances all the small details. As for florals, while I personally think the bigger the better achieves this style, centerpieces will no longer stand alone.  Break away centerpieces created as vignettes and tablescapes will feature large and small elements that also serve as your wedding favors!  Check out this amazingly glamorous wedding featured at StyleMePretty that brought every one of these elements together beautifully!

Stay tuned for the next installment that will cover the final trends of the year and usher in 2013!
